It was a moment of joy and relief for residents of Asaga Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area as Obicare Charity Foundation, under the leadership of Elder Engr. Obinna Agwu Odum, commissioned a newly constructed drainage system at Ozube Road.
For years, the erosion-prone section of the road, which separates Ndi Uka and Ndi Ukpai/Ndi Awa Odo compounds, had been a nightmare for the community. The dilapidated drainage caused frequent accidents, with both children and the elderly struggling to access the area. What should have been a simple community pathway became a death trap, limiting movement and posing daily risks.
Moved by compassion and a deep sense of service, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum, through Obicare Charity Foundation, undertook the construction of a proper drainage system to restore safety and accessibility. The completed project not only allows free flow of water but also reconnects residents to essential parts of the community, including the public toilet and community center.
Community elders and residents expressed profound gratitude, describing the project as life-saving. Elder Okafor, a community leader, said:
"For years, the Ozube Road drainage in our community was a death trap. Children and elders alike often stumbled and fell, and erosion made the area almost impossible to access. Thanks to the foundation, a proper drainage system has now been constructed, making the road safe and accessible for everyone."
At the commissioning, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum reassured the people of his commitment to sustainable community development projects and encouraged peace and unity among residents to foster growth and progress.
The new drainage system stands as another testament to Obicare’s mission of bringing comfort, development, and empowerment to communities across Nigeria.
